Air Force leaders rely on clinical psychologists to ensure that Air Force members are ready and able to perform at their best. Clinical psychologists diagnose and treat the full spectrum of psychological conditions within a multidisciplinary setting. In this specialty, you'll supervise mental health personnel, implement mental health programs and collaborate with other agencies to offer prevention programs and organizational consultation.
The Air Force has three outstanding, American Psychological Association (APA) approved internship sites at Malcolm Grow Medical Center (Andrews AFB, Maryland), Wright-Patterson AFB (Fairborn, Ohio) and Wilford Hall Medical Center (San Antonio, TX). The paid internship is available to interested applicants in the final year of a program leading to a doctorate in Clinical, Counseling or Combined Professional Psychology from a college or university that is accredited by the American Psychological Association in Clinical, Counseling or Combined Professional-Scientific Psychology. Continuing education opportunities as an AF Psychologist include fellowships in neuropsychology, pediatric psychology, aviation and operational psychology and clinical health psychology. PAY CHART
